Mite A Fall Face Off Champions

Our Mite A Wolves hosted 5 local teams at Veterans Memorial Rink this past weekend for the 2nd annual Columbus Day Mite Fall Face Off tournament.  Overall, the event was a huge success, as each visiting program (Enfield, South Windsor, Avon, Cromwell and Wonderland) squared off in 4 competitive cross-ice games over 2 days.

After a great preseason, our squad came into their first game action hungry and ready to compete.  Behind stellar goaltending, great team play, and relentless forechecking, they started hot by taking down the South Windsor Knights 17-3 and then the Enfield Eagles 18-7 on Saturday.  Sunday morning, they punched their ticket to the finals by edging out a very competitive Cromwell Whalers team, 8-5.

The Mite A finals game presented the toughest challenge of all for our Wolves, as they faced off against the tournament favorite and #1 seeded Wonderland Wizards, who out scored their competition 33-7 in 3 games. After starting the game down 0-2, our Mites never backed down and adjusted to the Wizards size, strength and physical game play.  In the end, Wonderland was no match for our squads' discipline, determination, and heart, as we battled our way to our first championship victory of the season, 4-2.

It was an awesome start to our season as the kids had a blast and continue to impress.

Go Wolves!!!
